EOIR - slow and steady simulation

Welcome to the world of EOIR! The EOIR tool gives you the ability to model detection, tracking, and imaging performance of your system. The tool uses a physics-based environment to accurately model the interactions of sensors, targets, and their environments. EOIR is capable of modeling systems in space, on the ground, and in the air.

With all these high performance capabilities there are a few gotchas we have to consider. In this write-up we will walk through building an STK scenario using EOIR best practices. We will start with a simple setup and increase the complexity of our analysis. The goal of which is to ease any frustration that may come up when working with this high fidelity tool. We’ll cover three main tips that can speed up the analysis as well as provide computation time estimates for varying complexities.

To get us started we’ll talk about how to best model your analysis. It can be tricky to find a best approach when modeling a complex system, our EOIR expert has broken it down into three major steps.

  1. Sensor
  2. Target
  3. Bells and Whistles

At a high level this sounds straightforward, but what about the detailed sensor parameters, our targets behavior, and all those bells and whistles? How do each of these details affect the analysis time?  What is the best methodology for building a custom scenario, how should you incorporate custom systems into STK? To learn more, check out our complete write-up.
