AGI Named the 2006 Best Medium Company to Work for in America

WASHINGTON (June 26, 2006)—For the third straight year, Analytical Graphics, Inc. (AGI) has placed at the top of the “Best Small and Medium Companies to Work for in America” list, compiled by the Great Place to Work® (GPTW) Institute and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). This year, AGI ranked No. 1 in the medium-sized category for companies with 251-999 employees after having been named the “Best Small Company to Work for in America” in 2004 and 2005. Winners in this third annual contest were announced today before a crowd of 12,500 attendees at the SHRM 58th Annual Conference and Exposition in Washington, D.C. The competition recognizes companies that use smart people management strategies to develop highly productive and satisfied workforces. Based in Exton, PA, AGI produces analysis software for the national security and space communities.

The GPTW ranked nominees in the areas of credibility, respect, fairness, pride, and camaraderie. Finalists were selected based on employees' responses to a detailed questionnaire about their workplace culture; Culture Audits® and collateral submitted by the organizations; and information gathered from other reputable sources. 2006 winning companies are listed on the GPTW Web site at www.greatplacetowork.com and will be featured in the July issue of SHRM’s HR Magazine at www.shrm.org/hrmagazine.

“Our philosophy is simple: Happy employees make a productive company. AGI always strives to do the right thing for our team, and we are pleased that the GPTW and SHRM foster and promote these practices through awards like this,” says Paul Graziani, AGI president and CEO.

Free perks at AGI include daily catered breakfast, lunch, and dinner; as well as on-site exercise and laundry facilities. To further ease work-life balance, nominally priced services are offered at the office, such as oil changes, haircuts, massages, and flower delivery. In addition to its award-winning perks and competitive health and welfare benefits, AGI practices an open-door management style and holds companywide lunchtime gatherings each Friday, with field office participation through videoconferencing.

"Small and medium-sized companies make up the majority of the American economy and workforce," said SHRM President and CEO Susan R. Meisinger, SPHR. "These winning organizations demonstrate that making effective use of the workforce is key to their success, and they must be recognized for their accomplishments."

GPTW Institute co-founder, Robert Levering, said, "These companies stand out because their employees find them to be places where they can trust the management, have pride in their work, and have fun at work. Other companies have much to learn about how to both be productive and do right by their people."

Prior to this, AGI earned a dozen other workplace awards, including being named one of the top five aerospace/military work environments in North America by Aviation Week and Space Technology and the top small- to mid-sized company in North America for Leadership Development by Executive Excellence magazine. In June, the Pennsylvania Psychological Association honored AGI with its Psychologically Healthy Workplace Award following a statewide search of more than 1,000 organizations that demonstrate how investment in people encourages employee well-being, productivity, and profitability.
