Dongle Resources

  • Which Dongle type is right for me?

  • AGI offers two types of dongles. See below for specific info on each.

    Dallas Semiconductor for Parallel Port

Requires a parallel port on your computer, these often don't exist on laptops

Does it have a memory? No. See the Dallas FLEXID 8 memory statement.

Is the i-button hole used? No. It serves no purpose for this application.

Can this be adapted to USB? Yes but AGI cannot support the adaptors and it's not recommended, please contact support@agi.com.

    Aladdin HASP for USB Port

Does it have a memory? Yes. See the Aladdin FLEXID 9 memory statement.

STK 8 doesn't work with the USB (FlexID9) dongle on 64 bit Windows. All x64 drivers are built for FlexLM 11.4. STK8 was built using FlexLM 9.2.

  • Dongle Configuration

    1. Identify your dongle type and make a note of the FLEXID printed on the dongle. Request a license from support@agi.com and save it as directed.

Flex ID 8 for Parallel Port

Flex ID 9 for USB Port

    2. Identify your version of Windows (XP, Vista, etc) and also if your Windows is built specifically for a 32 or 64 bit processor architecture. See System Properties to verify this.

    3. Attach the dongle to your computer.

    4. Install the appropriate dongle driver from table below.

        32-bit Windows 64-bit Windows
      STK 8
      FlexID8 (Parallel Port) install_1_wire_drivers_x86_v402.msi install_1_wire_drivers_x64_v402.msi
FlexID9 (USB) HASP4 Comand Line No driver available
      STK 9
      FlexID8 (Parallel Port) install_1_wire_drivers_x86_v402.msi install_1_wire_drivers_x64_v402.msi
FlexID9 (USB) HASP4 Comand Line HASP4 Comand Line

    5. Reboot the system. (optional for FlexID 9)

    6. Verify that the dongle driver was successful.

      • Open LMTOOLS.EXE from C:\Program Files\AGI\LicenseManager\bin)
      • Go to the System Settings tab, if there is a FLEXID the drivers install worked.

    7. Start STK
  • Trouble Shooting

  • Getting Started

    1. I have installed the driver but there is no FLEXID listed in LMTools.
Make sure your dongle is plugged in and re-check LMTools This is most likely an issue with the dongle driver. Verify you installed the correct driver.

*Note: If this is Windows 7 see FAQ 11926

    2. I have installed the driver and there's a FLEXID listed in LMTools but STK doesn't start.
Check that the license file HostID matches the dongle ID Check that the license file is in the correct directory Verify that license file version is at least equal to the version you are running.

    Performance

    1. STK is running with a dongle but everything is slow and unresponsive.
Virus protection software and in particular the McAfee IPS (Intrusion Prevention Service) can interfere with USB dongle operations. Symptoms of this are lagging animation.

Verify by removing the dongle. Doing so should cause performance to return to normal. STK can run for 5 minutes with the dongle removed.
