During this free, 30-minute presentation, Dr. T.S. Kelso of the Center for Space Standards & Innovation (CSSI) discusses SOCRATES (Satellite Orbital Conjunction Reports Assessing Threatening Encounters in Space), the center's service for the satellite operator community. Twice each day, CSSI runs a list of satellite payloads on orbit against a list of all objects on orbit from the catalog of unclassified NORAD two-line element sets (TLEs) to look for potential satellite conjunctions. The runs are made using AGI's STK/Conjunction Analysis Tools (STK/CAT) software and the NORAD SGP4 propagator in STK. This webinar will discuss how SOCRATES works and how it can help satellite operators avoid undesired close approaches through advanced mission planning. It will also cover how STK technology is used to automate standard processes like SOCRATES through a simple HTML interface. The presentation is followed by 15 minutes of Q&A.
