Analysis of wireless communications with strong physical layer influences is one of CSSI's research interests. Most communications network analyses assume that the physical layer is static during interactions. These interactions occur above the physical layer of the Open System Interconnect (OSI) paradigm, and are essential for route finding; packet identification; and reliable, error-free, delivery. Physical phenomena occur on time scales comparable with or shorter than internal network transactions for spacecraft in deep space and for space and aircraft moving with great velocity near the Earth. This webinar will:
- Discuss interactions between communications networks and the physical layer;
- Review approaches to simulating strongly wireless mobile ad hoc air and space communications that interact with terrestrial networks;
- Demonstrate co-simulation techniques that connect STK's robust and precise physical layer environment with competent commercial off-the-shelf network simulations.
