Set up your own Globeserver

Anyone can host their own Globeserver by downloading the hosting software below (contact AGI support if downloading is not an option). No license or fee is required. See hardware and software requirements below.

  • Globeserver Server Requirements

  • In essence, Globeserver requires the setup of a web server (IIS) that is configured with a Perl runtime engine (free) and the Globeserver software. AGI does not provide the Perl software, however, instructions for installing it are offered with the Installation. The server-side Globeserver does not require any licensing or registration.

    Hardware Requirements:
    Globeserver can be hosted on a PC running as a web server. The following operating systems are supported:

    • Windows 2003 Server
    • Windows 2000 Server
    • Windows XP Pro
    • Windows 2000 Pro
    • NOTE: Windows XP Pro and Windows 2000 Pro are limited to 10 simultaneous connections when operating as web servers. AGI does not recommend either operating system for Globeserver unless it is deployed for small groups or for testing purposes.

    Software Requirements:

    • Administrator privileges
    • IIS (Windows setup CD)
    • ActiveState Perl (free download)

    Client Workstation Requirements
    Globeserver client workstation requires the following AGI software versions:

    STK with Professional or Expert Edition (Version 7)
    AGI Viewer: Version 7 and newer

AGI Data Federate requires the use of a FlexNET License Server to host your license.

Obtain the Host ID and the Hostname or IP Address:

  • Start All Programs/Accessories/Command Prompt. Right-click to 'Run as administrator'.
  • At the prompt, enter ipconfig /all
  • Under Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection, note:
    • Physical Address (Host id)
    • IPv4 Address (IP Address)
  • Send this to AGI Support (moc.iga@troppus), with the subject line "Request for ADF Licenses."

You will receive an e-mail containing

  1. ADF Server Installation download link
  2. Detailed instructions for installing the License Server.
  3. Users are provided two *.lic files; a server license file installed on the FlexNET License Server and a client license, installed during the AGI Data Federate Server installation.
