STK/Terrain, Imagery, & Maps

STK/Terrain, Imagery, & Maps STK/Terrain, Imagery, & Maps, or STK/TIM, is a module that consists of geospatial data. It offers users convenience when searching for terrain and imagery as an additional and readily available data source. The table below describes STK/TIM's four datasets that enhance the analyses within STK Professional Edition.

  • Key Features

  • SRTM ver 4.1
SRTM ver 4.1 (1) (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission) covers all land areas between 60º south and 60º north with a grid spacing of roughly 90 meters. Unlike previous versions which had data voids, version 4.1 has been seamlessly filled with auxiliary data. The dataset is divided into tiles that are 5º x 5º.

    NED
NED (2) (National Elevation Dataset) covers the CONUS, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and some Pacific territories, with a grid spacing of roughly 30 meters. The dataset is divided into tiles that are 1º x 1º.

    EarthSat NaturalVue covering Korea
EarthSat NaturalVue (3) covering Korea is an imagery dataset based on Landsat data. It has a resolution of 15 meters. The dataset is divided into 5 tiles that are 5º (lat) x 6º (lon).

    Microsoft Bing Maps
Microsoft Bing Maps (4) (formerly Microsoft Virtual Earth) in STK offers 4 global layers of imagery and maps that can be draped over terrain (it does not include the elevation, 3D models, or bird’s eye view). The imagery layers share the same content as the 2D Microsoft Bing Maps (http://www.bing.com/maps).

    • Aerial
    • Hill Shaded
    • Roads
    • Hybrid (Aerial and Roads combined)

The Virtual Earth stream comes with 4 layers: aerial, hill shaded, roads, and hybrid (aerial and roads).
