Spacecraft Description: Demonstration of Sciences Experiments.
It was reported in April 2011 that DSX will use an Atlas 5 payload adapter ring as a platform for its payloads
1. Wave Particle Interaction Experiment. U.S. Air Force.
2. Space Weather Experiment. U.S. Air Force.
3. Space Environment Testbeds. NASA.
Demonstration of Sciences Experiments will be used to study how radiation effects space hardware. The 12,000 - 6,000-kilogram orbit will pass through the inner and outer Van Allen belts.
It was reported in April 2009 that construction and testing had been completed.
Launch will be as a secondary payload. A launch opportunity has not been identified.
As of December 2006, launch is planned for 2008.
MicroSat Systems is providing the spacecraft bus.
