STK's powerful communications modeling capabilities let engineers and planners examine the effectiveness of planned
communications platforms. Complete link analysis can be computed over time and even displayed visually in both 2-D and 3-D
environments as well as graphically and in the form of customized reports. Analysts can use this capability to explore:
- uplink power and downlink signal margins
- BER, S/N, and EIRP
- weather effects of RF communications
- gaseous absorption effects
- modulation types and coding
- RF interference sources
- antenna modeling (Gaussian, parabolic, dipole, etc.)
Tracking systems are crucial and can be incorporated into the solution offered by STK. Radar systems can be simulated in both
monostatic and bistatic operations as well as Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and Search/Track modes. The ability to easily
assign targets multiple frequency-dependent radar cross sections to coincide with the bands in operation allows system
engineers to explore a wide range of possibilities when designing, planning, or even post processing mission data. Users can
explore the effects of terrain on signal propagation using the TIREM extension as well as examine irregularities such as
clutter and noise using STK/RAE (Radar Advanced Environment). Users can look more closely at their radar system and perform
powerful analysis by being able to model things such as:
- Multiple radar access data-providers
- multiple antenna types
- constant or calculated system temperature
- ground reflectivity
- model pulse Doppler radars
- RF propagation loss over irregular terrain (1MHz to 20 GHz)
