A Soyuz-U launched from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on Thursday carrying the Expedition 5 crew to the International Space Station. Nearly six hours after launch, the Soyuz docked with the ISS, setting a record for the quickest trip to the ISS. Three new crew members, cosmonauts Pavel Vinogradov and Alexander Misurkin and astronaut Christopher Cassidy joined commander Chris Hadfield, astronaut Thomas Marshburn and cosmonaut Roman Romanenko on the ISS.
