AGI and NORAD are once again teaming up to track Santa on his Christmas trek around the globe with the help of AGI's open source Cesium
project. Beginning at 2:01 a.m. EST on December 24 you can visit the NORAD Tracks Santa site
to track the big man as he starts his annual journey around the globe. The Santa Tracker uses Cesium to provide the 3D tracking.
As you explore Santa's journey on the 3D Cesium-based globe, you'll get Santa's latest position as he heads west (starting at the International Date Line). You'll see Santa in his sleigh pulled by his reindeer that is a glTF model, as well as global terrain produced with STK Terrain Server
and Microsoft Bing® imagery. There are also “Santa Cams” stationed around the globe stream video of Old St. Nick as he passes famous landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, the Great Wall of China and even NORAD’s Colorado Springs headquarters.
, the open source project AGI founded, provides plug-in free dynamic web-based geospatial visualization. It uses WebGL for hardware-accelerated graphics and is cross-platform, cross-browser and tuned for dynamic-data visualization.
