AGI joins Santa's helpers in final preparations for Christmas Eve

It takes more than Rudolph’s red nose to track Santa’s sleigh on Christmas Eve.

Since 1997, Analytical Graphics, Inc. (AGI) has worked with the North American Air Defense Command (NORAD) Operations Center to bring Santa’s annual journey to life for millions from around the world each year.

“While our top priority continues to be helping our customers do their jobs more efficiently and effectively, preparing for the December 24th journey is one of our most important projects,’” said AGI Co-Founder and CEO, Paul Graziani. “Our team is honored to continue this partnership with NORAD to bring this fun tradition to life during the most wonderful time of the year.”

Once Rudolph and the other reindeer are ready for takeoff, NORAD's "Santa Cams" stationed around the globe stream videos of Kris Kringle into AGI’s open-source web-based globe, Cesium. Cesium’s innovative mapping technology shows Santa’s current position on the 3D globe, which models realistic terrain, oceans and imagery.

Starting at the International Date Line on December 24th, at 2:01 a.m. ET, viewers can follow Santa’s progress as he travels the world, passing famous landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, the Great Wall of China, and even NORAD’s Colorado Springs headquarters. And, it’s beyond the magic of Santa! Viewers can click map icons to learn more about these world-famous locations.

But you don’t have to wait until Christmas Eve to enjoy the fun! Between now and December 24, go to where you can visit the North Pole and download a new mobile app, play new games every day, and send questions to Santa and his elves. It’s fun for the entire family!

And if you really want to know how the magic works, join us for the virtual training: STK Christmas Special: When can I see Santa? Our training elves show you how to see Santa from your front porch using a predicted flight path in STK with external ephemeris. You’ll also learn how to load in a custom model, like Santa and his reindeer, and insert objects and change them using the 3D object-editing tool.

Happy Holidays from the AGI family!
