AGI teams with Raytheon and Remcom to model wind farms' effects on radar

Radar modeling shows potential false targets caused by turbine blades.A couple of months ago we wrote about how wind farm turbines affect radar. Basically, the spinning blades mask the presence of airplanes flying parallel to them, which poses a security risk. Recently, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) addressed that issue by awarding Raytheon a contract to develop a software tool that will model the impact of turbines on radar and help determine whether proposed placement of future wind farms will hinder the accuracy of certain radar systems, specifically those tracking airplanes and measuring weather conditions.
