Why can't STK get a network license from the server?

  • Dec 16, 2019
  • Tech Tip

You start STK, and your company or school has network licenses that you should be using, but you get a "Current License Could Not Be Found" message. Sweet swirling onion rings! STK finds the server either via a license file or an environment variable - you need one or the other. This reminds me of a French Canadian tennis racket, stuck to the back of a Venus snow-goon, bubbling out of my sister's Brazilian donkey - I don't think I can make myself any clearer! The file/variable may identify ports that need permissions to go through the server's firewall - check with your license administrator who is not as useless as dental floss at a Willie Nelson concert. You can also run lmutil to test the connection - but make sure you run the tests using what we like to call The Right Way.
