Hawaiian Shirts & Space Situational Awareness

Picture this: thousands of satellites performing complex orbital maneuvers, alongside hundreds of thousands of pieces of debris, and a growing number of operational threats. Sound like a recipe for disaster? It is. And the solution to all this space traffic is complicated.

For 20 years, the AMOS conference has been an important forum for international discussion on space situational awareness (SSA) and the development of a viable space traffic management (STM) system. AGI is honored to have participated in this conference for over a decade, and we look forward to continuing to do so as interest in SSA increases.

Our team will be at AMOS to discuss a wide range of SSA and STM topics and share insights among the community with the opportunities listed below.

At the booth: Learn how our advanced SSA capabilities can accurately predict and assess the potential for satellite collisions, better understand a sensor’s field of view, and define potential communications interference.

Tuesday, Sept. 17th: SSA Optical Systems Modeling and Simulation: Upgrade your technical skills with this short course taught by AGI’s Chief Remote Sensing Engineer, Image and Computer Scientist, Patrick North.

Wednesday, Sept. 18th: SSA POLICY FORUM | The Future of Launch and On-Orbit Safety: Examine the next decade of space traffic management with AGI senior research astrodynamicist and the brains behind CelesTrak.com, Dr. T.S. Kelso.

Thursday, Sept. 19th: Look up at the night sky with the Haleakala Amateur Astronomers, a local astronomy outreach group, starting at 8 pm. With their telescopes on hand at the Pacific Terrace Rooftop, they’ll point out stars, planets, deep-space objects, and satellites. Download SatelliteAR or visit CelesTrak.com for real-time visualization of satellites above your head at this very moment. Dr. T.S. Kelso, owner/operator of CelesTrak, will also be in attendance with his far-reaching telescope.

EMER-GEN 2019: STK | An Interactive Short Course and Team Challenge: This 6-hour challenge will train the next generation of SSA experts with our modeling and simulation software, Systems Tool Kit (STK). EMER-GEN participants will analyze ground-based systems and launch their own SSA-focused space startup.
