Testing is a component of every life cycle phase, but there comes a point when testing and evaluation is your focus. At this point, you need to connect your test and evaluation activities to the engineering process and validate the models used. This work particularly includes:

• Performing unit, system, integration, developmental, and operational tests.
• Integrating “as built” models (digital prototypes).
• Supporting distributed testing.
• Validating requirements.
